LCD TV

What is a LCD TV? A LCD TV is a flat screen TV that uses Liquid Crystal Devices (LCD) to display the TV picture.

LCD TVs are better than the old types of Televisions in that fact that they are thinner than the old types which used Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) to produce the picture. The CRT TVs disadvantage was that they were bulkier as they required more depth for the CRT hence the larger the screen size the more depth was required at the back to accommodate the tube. LCD TVs don't suffer this problem so as they get larger they just take up more wall space!

A LCD TV also has in built electronics to receive the Television transmission from an Aerial often in digital format. This is where it differs from computer screens (along with differences in display rates) You can however buy ones that do both.
