What is a Plasma TV? A Plasma TV is a flat screen TV that uses electrically charged gas (popularly called Plasma) to display the TV picture.
Plasma's are better than the old types of Televisions in that fact that they are thinner than the old types which used Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) to produce the picture;
The CRT TV disadvantage was that they were bulkier requiring extra depth to produce a picture and hence the larger the screen size the more depth was required at the back to accommodate the tube.
Plasma TVs don't suffer this problem. These type of TVs are direct competition to LCD TVs.
A Plasma TV also has in built electronics to receive the Television transmission from an Aerial. This is where it differs from computer monitors (along with differences in display rates) You can however buy Plasma TVs that can display both TV and computer signals..
